Production Blog
My last blog update consisted of my failure to save my footage, resulting in me having to re-film. My hope was that the re-shoot would be easier than the original, and ideally better. This was further than true, re-filming made me question whether I should change multiple parts of my production. Some would think this was beneficial for the actual production, but instead of it being productive critique it just took more time and energy. Since it took more time than I originally thought, it caused the mess-up to throw me more off plan than originally thought. Although the timeline was offset, I powered through the issue and resolved it, I have one whole video filmed, and a photo shot. Along with the actual media being completed, I learned from my prior mistake and saved all the media to a hard drive. Doing this insures my footage is saved, no matter the issue. This leaves me to doing at least one more video, and one more photo according to my original plan, but given the offset of timelines, I decided to focus more on the videos themselves than being ahead of the timeline. Prioritizing this has lead me to want more than two videos and 2 photos total. My new plan is to have up to eight different videos and photos total. I believe that if I film multiple shoots at a time, I can easily get this done and before the deadline. The only thing left is the planning of these 4 new pieces of media, how many photos, how many videos, what will they consist of. My new plan will make 2 of these new pieces of media photos, and 2 videos. I chose this ratio because it stays in-line with the original. I will make 1 new photo of something I like doing, while the other photo is something I dislike doing, the same will be for the videos. One video will be me listening to music, showing one of the things I like to do, while the other will show me throwing out the trash, showing something I dislike doing. One new photo showing what I like will be me working out, the photo showing what I dislike will be me sweeping. I will film and shoot these back to back, doing this will save me time. I will also edit these much quicker, I will do this by using a laptop instead of a phone. Making these adjustments will improve the quality of my media, while keeping me on the timeline. The change in my mindset for this production will definitely make more work for me, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.
