Production Blog

My production for the first video was completed, filming was done and the video was completed. At this point I had one video and one photo done. This was all until I faced an obstacle, my film deleted. From the photo to the video, they were both erased from my archive. I assume this was due to me not saving it, but this results in me having to refilm, and re-edit the footage. At first I couldn't believe that it deleted, I kept reloading the page in hopes it would pop back up, but no luck. I then thought about whether I saved it or not, although I usually would save film, it is the only reason I can think of for why it deleted. Given this situation, I must stay on the timeline to be done by the deadline for my commercial. I will refilm and re-edit all in one day, this is necessary for me to stay on track. Once I am done with this, I will save the film to a hard-drive. Doing this will be a worst case scenario back up for me, in case the film gets deleted again, for whatever possible reason.  All of this being said, I will save all of the media I make from this point on. Realizing that I could go through all of the work, and lose the product from a mistake as simple as that was a wake-up call. Although this will result in more work, from me saving it to a hard-drive and making sure it all is backed-up, it saves me more work in the long-run. Besides this taking me off track, I still have my blueprint for finishing the rest of the commercial. Instead of letting this ruin my timeline, I will integrate the re-filming of the lost media, with the filming of the media I have yet to film. Doing this will save me time and keep me on track. Another way to look at this as well, is to look at the re-filming as a way to make it better and more efficient. I can do this because I have already gone through the motions for the exact scenes, now I know what to do to make it the best I can. So although this was a setback, I will get this done today, while continuing with the other forms of media. Luckily I was ahead, so now I am still on track and possibly still ahead thanks to the filming and editing techniques I will implement.
